Executive Summary

Before the realities of in-space tourism and The Presidents Moon to Mars vision become commonplace in our daily routines, it is vital that we develop a public supportive, investment-generating platform to help take us there. However, and most importantly, it must be a platform that also conforms to today’s consumerists’ lifestyle. The solution being introduced here by DestinySpace Enterprises of Houston, Texas provides a unique approach to the development of a public interactive “Life-Style Center” A center where the private sector, Government regulators, business and investment community can work together; develop interactive strategies, competition, and lotteries. Inspire young minds to pursue careers in Mathematics, Science and Engineering. And also motivate International and commercial participation, offer low-risk, short -term investment solutions and multiple development “Pay as you go” funding opportunities.

Rather than striving to be a success, the goal of DestinySpace is to strive to be of value, not only to those working to make the moon to mars and beyond a reality but also to those working to engage the general public as to the importance of this centuries role as a legacy to the betterment of future generations.

The functions within the “Life-style center type” facility we have in mind are based around the needs of altering the perceptions of the public by presenting them with a different, clearer view of how humanity might one day live, work, and play in space. Our operations will focus on the Moon, Mars, and beyond initiative laid out by The President of the United States, and also offer interactions with proposed designs by the private sector that will one day enable safer, cheaper, and routine access into space.

Hearings, Studies, symposiums, artists renderings, currant theme attractions and commercial attempts to inspire and provide the general public with a clearer perspective of future commercial tourism activities, has failed to deliver a true to life interactive experience that will prepare the public for what is ultimately to become humanities future in space. 

People need a visual and physical interactive representation that also conforms to the needs of their present individual life styles. As an industry striving to build the in-space tourism market, and as a nation trying to reach beyond the support of its people, we cannot expect the public to take ownership of such an endeavor without their full awareness, acceptance, and having the assurances needed, showing we can be successful. 

DestinySpace Enterprises to date has the only concept that addresses the concerns of every perspective aspect involving the inception of a PST and tourism industry as well as our Presidents Moon, Mars, and beyond vision.
The DestinySpace Complex will provide a unique avenue to conduct both unstructured qualitative surveys and focus group research in an entertainment/consumerist atmosphere of millions of future space tourists on a yearly basis.

ENTERTAINMENT
The entertainment aspect of each dome will draw on the technological availability to give new meaning to thrill simulations such as those found in current sci-fi entertainment theme parks and provide the ultimate interactive experience. Our visitors will experience a life-like voyage of an exploration through the solar system traveling throughout the entire complex from dome to dome, passing by or docking with space stations that are currently being planned for real in-space development, or orbiting a planetary body than actually landing on a 1,000 ft diameter surface re-creation designed using NASA imaging and built as a Hollywood stage set. Today’s theme technology can offer a thrilling and educational experience of actually exploring, working, living, and playing in space like no other found today.


EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
We will focus on our most important future assets: our children.  The DestinySpace complex will be perfect for conducting a full and complete interactive range of near-term educational, scientific and R&D activities in an atmosphere that will give new meaning to the term “Real-life simulation”. These activities could be established, maintained and operated by a multitude of societies, organizations, Corporations and agencies for example; The Space Frontier Foundation, The National Science Foundation, NASA, The Mars Society, The Planetary Society, The National Space Society, and more.   The Use of such facilities can also be for astronaut mission training. Mock up systems using the latest technologies to train and support human space exploration to the Moon, Mars, and beyond will have unique advantages over current simulations. Instead of your average simulator, imagine actually piloting a full and complete model of the space shuttle and then docking it with a full and complete model of the space station as you actually orbit the Earth provided by the IMAX screen located below and all around you.

FACTORS
There are a number of key factors in addition to the above, which will have a significant effect on passengers' enjoyment of a DestinySpace facility. Future and more detailed studies’ covering all aspects of this concept needs to be viewed as a crucial next step.

SAFETY
Public perception of safety has influenced many factors other than safety statistics alone.  For example, in the early days of aviation in the USA the first trans-Atlantic flight led to the "Lindberg boom" in demand for passenger flight.  The "Ford Reliability Tours" started by Henry Ford to improve both the reliability of aircraft and public perceptions of aircraft safety were extremely valuable (Collins, Akiyama, Shiraishi, Nagase 1994).  DestinySpace complex activities may well be just as valuable in increasing the public's confidence in the private sector and the Moon, Mars and beyond initiative.

MISSION OBJECTIVE
Develop simulated market data as tools and aids to better understanding the market potential and development of          a general PST and tourism business.
Conduct more in-depth analyses of potential space travel markets, especially those of particular interest to the              investment community.
Use mock-ups of Sub-Orbital, Space elevator, Shuttle fleet, the ISS, planetary surfaces of the Moon, Mars, and             beyond to educate and stimulate the general public and model the Presidents Moon to Mars vision.
Form partnerships to conduct educational and entertainment business services to provide space transportation              mock-up vehicles and destination facilities concepts to the general public that will serve to guide technology,                 marketing, and financial planning for commercial investors.
       “In preparation for future human exploration, we must advance our perceptions to live and work safely in space”.             (President George W. Bush - Office of the U.S. Press Secretary) If these words are true, the DestinySpace                    concept must seriously be given mandatory consideration for further evaluation.

DestinySpace Complex
Ideas for building the DestinySpace complex are to take the same approach, as would a proposed shopping mall, providing the dome structure while leaving the interior open to various firms and industries such as the hotel industry to incorporate their own architectural ideas. For instance, the DestinySpace Complex would make the Hilton Lunar Grand Hotel concept available to the public in a realistic lunar setting. In 1986 when Mall Of America first proposed its intentions, their ideas of building a mall inside a former sports stadium seemed ridiculous; many thought the doors would never open. However, much to the skeptic’s disbelief on August 11th 1992 the Mall opened its doors for the first time to the public. 12 years after the mall opened, more than 500 specialty stores, 4 national department stores - Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears, over 50 restaurants from fast-food to fine dining, 8 nightclubs, 14 movie theaters, a central theme park and much more! It is the nation's #1 visited attraction, visited by more than 42 million people yearly with 6 percent traveling from other countries. Not only did Mall of America work, it has surpassed all expectations and changed the way people shop. The mall employs more than 12,000 people and is generating $2 billion yearly in economic impact for the state of Minnesota. The Mall of America has become the model for combining signature attractions with retail to create an outstanding entertainment venue and is now one of the most visited destinations in the United States. The DestinySpace Complex would in-fact consist of a multi Crenosphere domed facility based in a U.S. location that has not yet been determined.


The first level of [each] 1000 diameter theme dome will be dedicated to the recreation of a specific planetary landscape i.e. the moon or mars, and have a ceiling of 100 feet.  The second level with a ceiling of 400 feet will be dedicated for space, consisting of Orbiting space stations, passenger transport vehicles, and space elevators.  Working with Hollywood, theme park, IMAX, Monolithic dome, and other technologies to provide the most realistic commercial space travel experience, the DestinySpace Complex will deliver a general public perception of having actually traveled into space.

A NEW MODEL IS NEEDED

The Crenosphere Dome pictured here can be built 1000 ft in diameter and up to 500 ft high for an average price of $75M (for the dome only). The DestinySpace complex calls for [five] of these domes with a different planetary theme in each one i.e. Earth – Moon – Mars – Jupiter and Saturn. With each dome having a 1000 ft diameter, an architects vision is limited only by his or her own imagination.
